AKW Offer Charity Support

Leading providers of bathroom, kitchen and daily living aids for the elderly and disabled, AKW MediCare have announced that they have chosen to nominate two charities of the year to offer support to: Droitwich Stroke Club and Aspire

The Droitwich Stroke Club, which although affiliated to the Stroke Association, obtains no funding from the charity and is therefore reliant about donations and member contributions. Members, who are all stroke sufferers, meet on a weekly basis which for many provides the only opportunity to leave their home and socialise with fellow friends.

The second national charity AKW are to support is Aspire. Working with people with spinal cord injuries, Aspire provide practical support and advice to help people regain their independence. Among the services they offer are a number of specially adapted houses which serve as temporary accommodation for newly discharged patients and their families whilst long term arrangements are being made. AKW have provided, and will continue to provide bathroom and kitchen products for a number of these houses within the UK.

AKW will also be supporting the valuable Independent Living Advisors (who all have spinal injuries themselves) and Volunteers.

Aspire's head office is the Aspire National Training Centre (ANTC), one of the countries leading venues for accessible sport and fitness and has recently been chosen as a pre-Games training camp for the London 2012 Paralympics.
